80 gsm is the standard for custom wrapping paper: opaque enough to hide the box and easy to fold. Choose 60 gsm for light, high-volume counter wrapping, and 100 to 120 gsm for premium gifts that need crisp corners and no show-through.

How Much Wrapping Paper Do You Need per Gift?
For a box, cut a sheet as long as the distance around the box plus 2 in for overlap, and as wide as the box length plus the box height. A 12 x 9 x 3 in box needs a sheet about 26 x 15 in.

Is Custom Wrapping Paper Recyclable?
Paper wrapping paper without foil, glitter or plastic lamination is recyclable where local programs accept it. Use the scrunch test: if the paper stays scrunched in a ball, it is paper and can usually be recycled. If it springs back, it likely has a plastic or metallic layer.
Kraft and recycled stocks with standard inks are the easiest to recycle. Metallic inks are a smaller issue than full foil or glitter coatings, but check local rules before printing recycling guidance on the wrap.
