Kraft paper is the most flexible paper in packaging. The same brown sheet wraps a candle in a boutique, protects a mug in a shipping box, lines a burger basket and covers a catering table. Printed with your logo, every one of those jobs becomes branding.
Custom kraft paper is strong paper made by the kraft pulping process and printed with your logo or pattern. It comes in natural brown or white, in MF, MG or ribbed grades, from recycled or virgin fiber, and in food-grade or general packaging grades. Brands use it for retail wrapping, shipping and void fill, food liners and table covering.
We print custom kraft paper from 30 lb to 70 lb basis weight, as rolls 12 to 48 in wide or as cut sheets, in CMYK, Pantone or white ink on brown. It is PFAS free, with a 50-unit minimum and a 6 to 8 day turnaround.
What Is Custom Kraft Paper?
Custom kraft paper is kraft paper printed with a brand’s logo, pattern or message. “Kraft” comes from the kraft pulping process, which keeps wood fibers long, so the paper is strong for its weight and resists tearing. Unbleached kraft keeps its natural brown color; bleached kraft is white.
Why Brands Choose Printed Kraft Paper
- Strength: long fibers resist tearing when wrapping corners and heavy items.
- Natural look: brown kraft signals a simple, eco-minded brand.
- Recyclability: uncoated kraft is widely accepted in paper recycling.
- One paper, many jobs: wrapping, void fill, liners and table covering from one printed roll.
Kraft Paper Grades: MF, MG and Ribbed
MF (machine finished) kraft has the same natural texture on both sides and is the all-round wrapping grade. MG (machine glazed) kraft is smooth and slightly glossy on one side, which gives sharper print. Ribbed kraft has fine parallel ribs that add grip and a textured, premium look.
| Grade | Surface | Print result | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| MF (machine finished) | Natural texture both sides | Soft, natural look | Wrapping, void fill, table covering |
| MG (machine glazed) | One side smooth and glossy | Sharpest detail on the smooth side | Logo-heavy designs, food liners, retail wrap |
| Ribbed | Fine parallel ribs | Textured, premium feel | Gift wrapping, boutique packaging, bags |
Brown vs White Kraft
Natural brown kraft is unbleached and shows the fiber color, so dark inks read best and white ink gives a striking reversed look. White kraft is bleached, so full color CMYK and light Pantone shades print bright and true.
Virgin vs Recycled Kraft
Virgin kraft uses new long fibers and gives the highest strength and the most even surface. Recycled kraft uses recovered fiber, costs less per pound and suits brands with recycled content goals. Recycled kraft is a little weaker and shows more natural flecks.
Is Custom Kraft Paper Food Safe?
Food-grade custom kraft paper is made for direct contact with food and printed with food-safe inks. General packaging kraft is for wrapping and shipping products, not food. Both are PFAS free. Choose food-grade when the paper touches food.
Food-grade kraft
For basket liners, sandwich wraps, bakery bags and serving trays. Printed with food-safe inks.
General packaging kraft
For gift wrap, void fill, shipping protection and table covering where the paper does not touch food.
PFAS free
On February 28, 2024, the FDA announced that PFAS grease-proofing substances are no longer sold for food contact use in the US. Our kraft is made without them.
For greasy or wet food
Plain kraft absorbs oil. For fried food choose greaseproof paper; for raw meat and BBQ choose butcher paper.

Custom Printing for Kraft Paper
Printed kraft paper carries your logo, a repeating pattern, a tagline, a social handle or a QR code. Full color CMYK suits white kraft; Pantone spot colors match brand colors exactly; white ink on brown kraft gives a clean reversed look.
Flexo printing
Printing plates transfer ink at high speed. Best for long rolls, 1 to 3 brand colors, white ink on brown and the lowest unit cost at volume.
Digital printing
No plates; prints straight from the file. Best for short runs, first orders, full color and seasonal designs.
Artwork Tips for Kraft Paper
- On brown kraft, use navy, black, deep green, burgundy or white ink.
- Choose MG kraft when the logo has fine detail or small text.
- Use an all-over repeat so the logo shows on every side of a wrapped item.
- Supply vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF) and check the digital proof at actual size.

Kraft Paper vs Butcher, Tissue and Greaseproof Paper
| Paper | Strength | Food use | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kraft paper | High for its weight | Food-grade option only | Retail wrap, void fill, liners, table covering |
| Butcher paper | High, with wet strength | Yes, made for meat | Raw meat, BBQ, brisket |
| Tissue paper | Low, very light | Food tissue grade only | Gift presentation, box lining |
| Greaseproof paper | Medium | Yes, holds grease | Fried and greasy food |
Is Kraft Paper Recyclable?
Uncoated kraft paper is widely accepted in curbside paper recycling and breaks down in compost. Food-soiled paper is not accepted by every program, so check local rules before printing disposal guidance. Recycled kraft adds recovered fiber for brands that report recycled content.
Pair Kraft Paper With Your Boxes
Order the paper and the boxes from one supplier so the wrap, the void fill and the box carry the same branding. See all custom printed papers and custom bakery boxes.
