At a deli counter, the sheet between the server’s glove and the food is touched on every order. It picks up a pastry, separates sliced meat, wraps a sandwich and lines a basket. Printed with your logo, that same sheet puts your brand in the customer’s hand dozens of times a day.
Custom deli paper is thin food-contact paper cut into sheets and printed with your logo in food-safe inks. Delis, bakeries and sandwich shops use it to pick up, wrap, separate and serve food. It comes dry waxed, unwaxed grease-resistant or wet waxed, most often as interfolded sheets that pull one at a time from a dispenser box.
We print custom deli paper on white, natural kraft or tinted stock from 18 lb to 30 lb, as interfolded sheets from 6 x 10.75 in to 15 x 10.75 in, flat sheets or rolls. All of it is PFAS free, with a 50-unit minimum and a 6 to 8 day turnaround.
What Is Custom Deli Paper?
Custom deli paper is a light, flexible food sheet printed with a brand’s logo or pattern and sized for counter work. The name comes from the deli counter, where staff use it to handle sliced meat, cheese and sandwiches without touching the food. Bakeries use the same sheets as pick-up tissue for donuts and pastries, and burger shops use them as wraps and basket liners.
Deli Paper vs Deli Sheets vs Deli Wrap
“Deli paper”, “deli sheets” and “deli wrap” all describe the same product. “Deli sheets” usually means precut interfolded sheets in a dispenser box. “Deli wrap” usually means the same paper used to wrap sandwiches and subs.
Deli Paper Types: Dry Waxed, Unwaxed and Wet Waxed
Dry waxed deli paper is the counter standard: it handles moisture and does not feel waxy. Unwaxed grease-resistant deli paper suits warm, oily food and brands that want a wax-free sheet. Wet waxed deli paper gives the strongest moisture barrier for cold meat and cheese.
| Type | How it works | Feel | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dry waxed | Wax pressed into the fibers | Smooth, not waxy, does not transfer wax | Sandwich wraps, pastry pick-up, basket liners, meat separators |
| Unwaxed grease-resistant | Dense paper that holds back oil without wax | Soft, papery, quiet to handle | Warm and greasy items, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, wax-free programs |
| Wet waxed | Wax coated on the surface | Glossy and waxy | Cold cuts, cheese and items held in the fridge |
Wax coatings, wax weights and dry vs wet waxing are covered in detail on our custom wax paper page.
Which Kit Rating Unwaxed Deli Paper Needs
Unwaxed deli paper gets its oil resistance from the sheet, so it is graded by Kit rating. Dry bakery items need around Kit 3 to 5. Warm sandwiches and buttery pastries need around Kit 7 to 8, and fried food needs Kit 8 and up. For heavy fried food, custom greaseproof paper is the stronger choice.
What Size Deli Paper Do You Need?
Interfolded deli sheets are 10.75 in deep, so the size is set by width: 6 in for pastry pick-up, 8 in for donuts and cookies, 10 in for small sandwiches, 12 in for most sandwiches and burgers, and 15 in for subs, wraps and large deli portions.
Interfolded, Flat Sheets and Rolls
- Interfolded sheets: folded into each other in a dispenser box, so pulling one sheet presents the next. Staff can work one-handed and with gloves on.
- Flat sheets: stacked and cut square for wrapping stations and basket lining.
- Rolls: for counters that cut paper to each order.

Is Custom Deli Paper Food Safe and PFAS Free?
Yes. Our custom deli paper is PFAS free and printed with food-safe inks on food-grade stock made for direct contact with food.
The 2024 FDA PFAS Phase-Out
On February 28, 2024, the FDA announced that PFAS grease-proofing substances are no longer sold for food contact use in the US. Our deli paper gets its barrier from wax or dense fibers instead.
State PFAS Laws
California, New York, Washington, Minnesota and other states restrict intentionally added PFAS in food packaging. One PFAS free sheet covers every location.
Direct Food Contact
The sheet touches meat, cheese, bread and pastry directly, so stock, wax and inks are all food-grade.
Cleaner Counter Handling
Staff pick up food through the sheet instead of with bare gloves, which keeps hands and food apart at the counter.
Custom Printing for Deli Paper
Printed deli sheets carry your logo, a repeating pattern, a checkerboard, a tagline or a QR code. Full color CMYK reproduces photos and gradients; Pantone spot colors match brand colors exactly.
Flexo printing
Printing plates transfer ink at high speed. Best for longer runs, 1 to 2 brand colors and the lowest unit cost at volume.
Digital printing
No plates; prints straight from the file. Best for short runs, first orders, full color and seasonal designs.
Artwork Tips for Deli Sheets
- Use an all-over repeating pattern so the logo shows no matter how the sheet is folded or torn.
- Keep the repeat small enough to appear at least twice on a 6 x 10.75 in sheet.
- On natural kraft, dark inks read best.
- Supply vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF) and check the digital proof at actual size.

Deli Paper vs Wax Paper, Greaseproof and Butcher Paper
| Paper | Format | Barrier | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deli paper | Precut interfolded or flat sheets | Dry wax, wet wax or grease-resistant | Fast counter handling, pick-up, wraps, liners |
| Wax paper | Sheets, rolls, bags | Wax coating; moisture | Cold wraps, cheese, freezer, candy |
| Greaseproof paper | Sheets, rolls | Dense fibers; grease | Hot, fried and greasy food |
| Butcher paper | Rolls and large sheets | Strong kraft | Raw meat, BBQ, brisket |
Deli paper is not oven paper. Wax melts at oven heat, so use parchment for baking.

Custom Deli Paper FAQs
What is deli paper used for?
Picking up and wrapping food at the counter: separating sliced meat and cheese, picking up donuts and pastries, wrapping sandwiches and lining baskets and trays.
Is deli paper the same as wax paper?
Not always. Most deli paper is dry waxed, but deli paper also comes unwaxed and grease-resistant. Deli paper is sold as precut counter sheets, while wax paper also comes in rolls and bags for wrapping and storage.
What size is standard deli paper?
Interfolded deli sheets are 10.75 in deep and come 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15 in wide. The 12 x 10.75 in sheet is the most common for sandwiches and burgers.
What does interfolded mean?
Each sheet is folded into the next inside the dispenser box, so pulling one sheet out presents the next one. It makes one-handed, gloved counter work faster.
Is custom deli paper food safe?
Yes. It is printed with food-safe inks on food-grade stock made for direct contact with food, and it is PFAS free.
Can deli paper go in the oven or microwave?
No for the oven, because wax melts at oven heat. Use parchment for baking. Microwave use depends on the product label.
What is the minimum order for custom deli paper?
The minimum order is 50 units, and the turnaround is 6 to 8 days.
Can I print full color on deli paper?
Yes. Digital printing handles full color CMYK artwork, and flexo printing matches Pantone spot colors for longer runs.
