Description
Built Around Real Record Formats
Different records need different clearances. We size vinyl record mailers around the real formats you ship:
- 7″ record mailers for singles and small EPs
- 10″ record mailers for niche formats and certain releases
- 12″ record mailers for standard LPs, double LPs and gatefold jackets
For each format we look at:
- The outer size of a sleeved record
- Extra clearance for inner sleeves, poly slips and protective wraps
- Space for one record or multiple records, depending on how you pack orders
We can set up mailers for single-record shipments and separate versions for two-record and multi-record bundles so staff always know which mailer to use.
Protection at Corners, Edges and Spine
A good record mailer does three jobs:
- Stops corners from being crushed
- Stops the sleeve from bending in the middle
- Keeps the record from moving too much inside
To do that, we:
- Use stiff card or corrugated board at a thickness suited to your routes and carriers
- Design flaps that fold over corners instead of leaving them exposed
- Overlap edges so there are no weak gaps on the sides
- Allow space for an extra stiffener if you want one for special orders or higher-value items
If you often ship valuable first pressings, limited editions or audiophile releases, we can move those SKUs into a heavier board version while keeping standard grades for regular catalogue titles.
Materials and Board Options
Vinyl record mailers can be made from:
- Heavy solid card for lighter protection and lower postage
- Corrugated board for stronger protection on long routes or rough handling
We look at:
- Average and maximum parcel weight
- How your carriers treat parcels (local vs international, tracked vs untracked services)
- Your return rate due to damage
From there, we recommend a board type and thickness that fits your risk and budget.
Simple, Clear Branding for Record Sellers
Most record mailers do not need full-colour artwork. What they do need is clear identification and a professional look. We can print:
- Store or label logo and name
- Web address and contact details
- Short handling notes such as “Do not bend” or “Vinyl record – handle with care”
Printing can be one or two colours. If you run a record club or subscription series, we can develop a slightly more visible design for those mailers without making them expensive to run.
Who Uses Vinyl Record Mailers?
These mailers are used by:
- Independent record shops selling online
- Small and mid-sized labels shipping pre-orders and promos
- Subscription clubs sending monthly or quarterly picks
- Collectors and sellers on marketplaces who want fewer disputes about packaging
If you also send posters, flyers or flat merch with records, we can look at whether those travel inside the same mailer or need their own flat mailer format.
Packing and Workflow in Your Store or Warehouse
Vinyl record mailers arrive flat, stack easily and can sit right by the packing bench. Packing staff:
- Place the record in any inner sleeve or protective wrap you use
- Lay it in the mailer, optionally with a stiffener
- Fold the flaps over in sequence
- Tape or seal the final edge
We can print size or format markers on each mailer (“7 inch”, “12 inch multi”) so staff pick the right one at a glance.
